Job Description

Shop Helper needed for steel company in South Houston. Temp to hire paying $17.50 an hour.

Schedule: 8am to 6pm Monday through Friday with some Saturdays.

Essential Duties

Operate the necessary tools and or equipment per customer specifications
Process orders to assure production schedule and quality standards are met
Operate all equipment in a safe and responsible manner, report safety concerns to your supervisor and maintain a clean and safe work area.
Interpret work orders and drawings to cut pieces correctly and insuring correct materials for each job.
Fill out required paperwork, delivery tags
Finalize Work completion i.e., final inspection of material quality and quantity, packaging, and labeling
Operate forklift to move material
Display the ability to use basic measuring devices, including tape measure and micrometers

What you bring to the table:

Some metal fabrication experience. By that I mean cutting with a hand torch, using a shear, grinding, ability to use a tape measure, plasma cutting experience, forklift, and overhead crane experience, etc. Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions is very important in the fab shop as well.
