Staff or Senior Accountant – McAllen, TX (Reynosa, MX Operations)

A growing manufacturing company is seeking a Staff or Senior Accountant to support its maquiladora operations in Reynosa, MX. This onsite position is based in McAllen, TX, requiring daily cross-border travel to the Reynosa facility, with company-provided transportation from a central location at no cost to the employee. The role involves managing financial operations, tax compliance, and reporting for the maquiladora, ensuring adherence to Mexican accounting standards and government regulations. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The hourly pay rate is up to $33.65/hr for Staff Accountant or up to $36.06/hr for Senior Accountant, DOE.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the general ledger, accurately recording all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, payroll, and overhead costs.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.

  • Ensure compliance with Mexican tax regulations, including timely filing of IMSS (Social Security) and IVA (VAT) returns.

  • Manage maquiladora-specific compliance, maintaining import/export transaction records and customs documentation.

  • Oversee inventory control, monitoring levels and ensuring proper recording of inventory transactions.

  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.

  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process.

  • Provide support for external audits, working closely with a partnered CPA firm experienced in maquiladora operations.

  • Handle supplier payments, payroll processing, taxation, and compliance requirements.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.

  • Strong knowledge of Mexican accounting standards (PCGA) and maquiladora regulations.

  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environments preferred.

  • Familiarity with Mexican government agencies (SAT/IMSS).

  • Proficiency in accounting software.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Fluency in Spanish and English (speaking, reading, writing).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
