Welder/Fabricator – Skid-Mounted Pump SystemsPosition Overview
We are seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator to support the custom building of skid-mounted pump systems (skid boosters) for lift station applications. These systems are pre-assembled frames designed to support pumps, motors, piping, valves, and controls used in wastewater and water boosting.
This role requires an experienced professional capable of producing strong, corrosion-resistant welds that meet safety, pressure, and applicable code requirements.

Key Skills and QualificationsWelding Process Proficiency
- Experience with multiple welding processes
- Ability to select and switch processes based on material type and welding position
Fabrication and Shop Skills
- Ability to read and work from:
- Blueprints
- Engineering drawings
- Welding symbols
- Isometric drawings (ISOs)
- Structural fabrication experience, including:
- Cutting, fitting, aligning, and assembling metal frames (I-beams, channels, plates)
- Pipe welding and fitting:
- Stainless steel and carbon steel piping
- Flanges and valves
- Proficiency with fabrication equipment and tools, including:
- Saws, press brakes, shears, grinders, torches
- Layout tools and precision measurement instruments (calipers, squares, levels)
- Ability to build to tolerances and work with heavy assemblies using cranes and forklifts
Material Knowledge
- Experience working with:
- Carbon steel (structural frames)
- Stainless steel (wet/end components)
- Understanding of:
- Corrosion resistance
- Material selection
- Weldability in moist and chemical environments
Relevant Experience
- Experience with:
- Pump skids
- Booster systems
- Lift stations or similar packaged equipment
- Background in wastewater or water applications
- Ability to perform custom fabrication work, not limited to production welding
Soft and Practical Skills
- Strong attention to detail and quality control, including visual inspection and weld measurement
- Safety awareness, including use of PPE and understanding of hot work and confined space practices
- Physical stamina and strong hand-eye coordination
- Problem-solving ability for custom builds
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineers and designers
