Shop Operations Manager (Turbine Repair & Rotating Equipment)
Location: Sullivan, MO
Position Summary
The Shop Operations Manager is responsible for supervising, directing, and coordinating a team of technicians in the repair of turbine components and rotating equipment. This role ensures safe, efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective shop operations while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise, train, evaluate, and coordinate shop and field personnel
Ensure safe, reliable, legal, and efficient operations across all required shifts
Coach and mentor team members to align performance with company goals
Manage shop production schedules and employee scheduling
Allocate labor hours accurately to jobs and approve payroll entries daily
Conduct regular inspections of machinery and ensure OSHA and regulatory compliance
Oversee equipment maintenance and troubleshoot operational issues
Assist with preparing quotes for shop and field repair activities
Provide technical support to project management regarding repair techniques and quality compliance
Manage work according to approved scope, schedules, and cost expectations
Prepare daily operational updates and reports
Plan and procure required materials; manage tooling and raw material inventory
Support proposal development, emergency work authorizations (EWAs), and new opportunity quoting
Optimize machine resources to maximize productivity and minimize downtime
Maintain professional communication with customers, vendors, and internal teams
Represent the company in a professional and positive manner
Adjust manpower as required to meet project execution needs
Participate in ongoing professional development and training
Perform additional duties as assigned
QualificationsEducation
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum 10 years of journeyman-level job shop experience
5+ years of experience in the power generation or rotating equipment industry
Field machining and welding experience preferred

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and customer specifications

Technical Proficiency
Basic computer proficiency and experience with common office equipment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with scheduling or project management software preferred
Certifications & Requirements
Valid Driver’s License required
Valid Passport preferred
Willingness to travel within and outside the continental United States
Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and move throughout office, shop, and field environments
Ability to operate vehicles and travel between worksites
Ability to handle tools, machinery components, and office equipment
Work Environment
This position operates in office, shop, and field environments.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position includes direct supervisory responsibility over shop personnel.
