Shipping & Packaging Associate
Job Description
L.K. Jordan & Associates is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Shipping & Packaging Associate for a manufacturing client. This position is responsible for preparing materials for outgoing shipments and ensuring that all items are accurately packed, labeled, documented, and shipped according to established procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, package, label, and document materials for outgoing shipments
- Review daily job travelers and shipping lists to determine priorities, shipping methods, and special handling requirements
- Follow packaging and outbound shipping procedures to ensure orders are accurate, complete, and in proper condition
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing trucks safely and efficiently
- Verify materials and shipment information before orders are released
- Handle materials according to established work instructions
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly supplied work areas
- Inspect packaging, counting, and material-handling equipment before use
- Promptly report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and required PPE guidelines
- Assist with training other employees as directed by the supervisor
- Communicate shipping issues, shortages, damages, or documentation discrepancies promptly
- Support other shipping, packaging, and production activities as assigned
- High school diploma or GED required
- One to three years of relevant shipping, packaging, warehouse, or manufacturing experience preferred
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered
- Ability to review and follow job travelers, shipping documentation, and work instructions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to order accuracy
- Basic problem-solving skills
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Dependable attendance and a strong commitment to workplace safety
- Willingness to learn new procedures and develop job-specific skills
- Regular use of hands to handle materials, packages, tools, and equipment
- Ability to sit for extended periods, as required
- Ability to occasionally stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds
- Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds
- Close and color vision sufficient to perform packaging, labeling, and inspection duties
