Job Description
An outstanding customer of LK Jordan is seeking a Sr. Accountant for a direct hire position in Manhattan, NYC, NY. Zip 10001. Annual compensation is $120K+.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Controller, the Sr. Accountant is responsible for performing accounting duties in support of various accounting functions and two controllers. These include analyzing financial information and preparing financial reports by compiling information, preparing profit and loss statements, and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures. The Sr. Accountant is also responsible for taking the lead in coordinating various departments to establish the necessary reporting parameters, including financial reporting formats, timing requirements, accounting basis, and banking. This position is responsible for posting journal entries and maintaining the general ledger accounts and reports in accordance with GAAP including supporting backup.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Assists in the preparation of the business plan, annual tax package, cash flow, and forecasts
Prepares profit and loss statements, WIP reports, and various monthly closing and cost accounting reports
Compiles and analyzes monthly financial information to prepare various journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations
Documents business transactions to ensure compliance with accounting standards and resolve discrepancies where appropriate
Maintains and coordinates accounting control procedures
Analyzes, reviews, and assists in the preparation of the annual Business Plan and Mid-Year Forecast
Assists in completing monthly budget vs. Actual (BVA) analysis for all Track Systems jobs and SG&A
Monitors and reviews accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness
Prepares and reviews budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents
Reconciles bank statements
Performs expense variance review and analysis
Supports the month-end and year-end closing process
Assists and interacts with internal and external auditors in completing audits
Assists and interacts with Office Managers in support of AP, AR, and Payroll functions
Prepares contractor pre-qualifications for various agencies
General/Other Responsibilities and Duties
Prepares ad hoc reports and analysis for management as requested
Explains billing, invoicing, and accounting policies to staff, vendors, and clients
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in accounting
CPA required (this a MUST)
A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience; Construction experience a plus
Advanced excel skills preferred; JD Edwards experience a plus
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles
Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
Ability to perform with a high level of discretion, professionalism, and integrity
Strong analytical skills and written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
Facility with financial and accounting software applications
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel skills
