SOUTHWEST MANUFACTURER LOOKING FOR QC TEAM LEADER!

TEMP TO HIRE
$15-$18/HR
DAY SHIFT, OVERTIME AND WEEKENDS AS NEEDED

Essential Functions
Directs a team of QC inspectors.
Uses QC instruments and gauges to test products according to QC specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervises the work of a team of QC inspectors.
In additional to team coordination activities, completes some QC activities independently.
Uses verniers, go/no go gauges, calipers, thread gauges, measurement of hardness, pia tape, and other QC instruments to measure product conformance to QC standards.
Calculates dimensional tolerance from drawings.
Creates and interprets QC reports and other documents.
Communicates QC standards to team members.
Ensures all procedures, including ISO, SPP-QAP-1503, and SPP-GAM-1001, are followed.
Ensures that the sampling and inspection procedure is followed properly.
Ensures that inspection results are recorded properly on inspection report forms.
Ensures that products are tagged properly.
Ensures that inspections are logged properly in the QC inspection software program.
Ensures that team members follow safety procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
Required:
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience leading a team.
Experience working in a QC department in the metal industry or equivalent.
Preferred:
Associates or Certificate course in Engineering, Quality Control, or related field.
Experience as a QC team lead or in a similar role.
Familiarity with castings & steel products.
Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, Etc:
Required:
Uses a hands-on approach to do the QC job.
Leadership skills to lead a team of QC inspectors.
Knowledge of how to use basic QC instruments such as vernier, go/no go gauges, calipers, thread gauges, measurement of hardness, pia tape, etc.
Ability to read and interpret drawings for QC purposes.
Basic math skills to calculate dimensional tolerances from drawings.
Basic English skills to read procedures and drawing notes, write reports, and communicate with team members.
Documentation skills to make reports, review, and store.
Basic computer skills including Excel and other Microsoft office software.
Preferred:
Maintains a Material Handling Fork Lift license.
Physical Demands
Able to use a variety of hand-held calipers and various QC gauges up to 60.
Able to lift, push, and/or pull 50 lb parts.
Able to stand for long periods of time.
Able to kneel or squat as required.
The ability to sit for extended periods of time.
In the QC function, this position will require handling product (and the ability to lift within OSHO guidelines).
Work Environment
Warehouse and lab environment.
Some outside work will be required.
