Job Description
Our client, a reputable industrial services company in the Pasadena/Deer Park area, is currently seeking an experienced API Pump Mechanic to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your technical skills in a dynamic and growing environment.
Position Summary:
The API Pump Mechanic will be responsible for the disassembly, inspection, repair, fabrication, painting, and reassembly of a variety of rotating equipment including:
- Centrifugal (single & multi-stage), gear, diaphragm, reciprocating, and metering pumps
- Gear reducers and blowers (vacuum and pressure)
- Mechanical seals and related components
Key Responsibilities:
- Disassemble and inspect API centrifugal pumps and other rotating equipment
- Prepare detailed equipment reports outlining necessary repairs and parts
- Reassemble, paint, and prepare equipment for delivery
- Perform pneumatic and hydrostatic testing
- Safely load, unload, and move equipment as needed
- Operate various hand, power, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a pump repair facility
- Strong experience with IPM pump repairs and technical decision-making
- In-depth knowledge of API 610 and other related industry standards
- Ability to read and interpret pump sectional views, mechanical drawings, and OEM manuals
- Mechanical seal handling and pressure testing experience preferred
- Must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Must pass background check, drug screen, and physical
Additional Requirements:
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Work Conditions: Shop environment (non-climate controlled); exposure to dirt, heat, and noise
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM with overtime as needed
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required
