Job Summary
Pedernales Electric Cooperative is looking for a Procurement Consultant to lead an one year project. This role will be responsible for analyzing current procurement workflows, implementing process improvements, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will leverage technology, automation, and strategic supplier relationships to optimize procurement while supporting business goals.
Must be available to commute to a Pedernales Electric Cooperative office
(W4 position - hybrid)
Key Responsibilities:
Improve Procurement Processes

Analyze current procurement workflows for materials and services (e.g., power lines, transformers, IT services).

Identify inefficiencies and implement strategies to speed up the purchasing process.

Reduce unnecessary steps and paperwork to simplify procurement operations.

Introduce better tools and systems to improve order tracking and processing.
Cost Savings & Budget Management

Develop strategies to reduce procurement costs without compromising quality.

Negotiate better terms with suppliers to maximize value.

Collaborate with finance teams to ensure procurement aligns with budgetary goals.
Leverage Technology & Automation

Implement electronic purchasing systems to minimize manual work.

Enhance tracking systems for real-time visibility of order status.

Work closely with IT teams to ensure seamless system functionality.
Supplier Relationship Management

Identify and establish partnerships with high-performing suppliers.

Monitor supplier performance and address any issues proactively.

Mitigate supply chain risks by diversifying vendor relationships.
Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure all procurement activities comply with industry regulations and company policies.

Maintain organized records for audits and reporting.

Develop contingency plans to prevent supply chain disruptions.
Cross-Department Collaboration

Partner with engineering, operations, and finance teams to align procurement strategies with business needs.

Work with legal teams to negotiate fair and compliant contracts.

Support sustainability initiatives by sourcing eco-friendly materials.
Performance Tracking & Reporting

Use data-driven insights to measure cost savings, efficiency improvements, and supplier performance.

Prepare reports for leadership on procurement enhancements and future needs.

Forecast demand to support long-term planning and inventory management.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications

Experience: Proven background in procurement, supply chain, or purchasing (preferably in utilities or infrastructure).

Skills: Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Technology: Familiarity with procurement software - Bonfire

Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of utility industry regulations (or willingness to learn).
