Job Description
LK Jordan is seeking a Payroll Specialist near the airport area to manage end-to-end payroll for six affiliated companies, ensuring accurate, timely processing and full compliance with payroll, tax, and labor regulations. This is a highly responsible, fast-paced, position that plays a critical role in daily operations. Ideal candidate must be able to take full ownership of the payroll function from start to finish, with strong accounting, and reporting expertise across multiple entities. This is a full-time, temp to hire position with a competitive pay rate at $25.00 hourly. The schedule is Monday - Friday from 7:00am - 4:00pm or 7:30am- 4:30pm.
Key Responsibilities:

Process weekly hourly and semi-monthly salaried payroll for up to six companies, supporting approximately 175 employees.

Ensure accurate calculation of wages, bonuses, commissions, deductions, benefits, and adjustments

Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax and labor laws; prepare and file required payroll tax reports (941s, W-2s, state filings, etc.)

Administer certified payroll for prevailing wage and government projects

Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll and management reports

Maintain payroll systems, records, and documentation; support internal and external audits

Coordinate with accounting and HR on benefits, payroll expenses, and intercompany allocations

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency
Skills & Qualifications:

5+ years of payroll or accounting experience, including multi-company and certified payroll

Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws, labor regulations, and accounting principles

Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise, Sunburst, and advanced Excel

Proven ability to work independently, manage heavy workloads, and meet strict, time-sensitive deadlines

High attention to detail, discretion, and reliability in handling confidential information

Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Completion of a background check and drug screen

Valid Texas driver's license
