Operations Manager
Job Description
The Operations Manager leads all shop and field repair operations within the division. This role is responsible for proposals, scheduling, forecasting, and real-time execution to maximize personnel and equipment resources while achieving customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, schedule adherence, and financial performance goals.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on operational leader with experience in heavy industrial repair, rotating equipment, or power generation environments who can balance strategic planning with daily execution.
Primary ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Personnel Management
Lead and manage all shop and field repair operations
Supervise, coach, and develop assigned personnel
Recruit, hire, train, and retain a high-performing team
Establish performance expectations and accountability standards
Conduct evaluations and recommend compensation, promotions, or corrective actions
Ensure proper onboarding, technical training, and safety compliance
Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and operational excellence
Develop and maintain resource-loaded schedules for shop and field work
Optimize manpower, equipment, and tooling utilization
Coordinate forecasting and real-time operational adjustments
Monitor productivity, quality, and schedule adherence
Implement contingency plans to address operational challenges
Identify inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Maintain full Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility for the division
Develop and manage monthly and annual budgets
Establish financial and production targets to ensure profitable execution
Prepare or oversee estimates and proposals for repair projects
Monitor project performance and take corrective action as needed
Analyze operational and financial metrics to improve margins and resource allocation
Oversee repair activities on turbine-generator components and heavy rotating equipment
Ensure compliance with quality systems, procedures, and safety regulations
Support development and implementation of operational processes
Monitor equipment performance, uptime, and preventive maintenance efforts
Maintain professional relationships with employees, customers, and vendors
Provide regular operational updates to senior leadership
Participate in strategic planning and special projects
Represent the organization in a professional manner at all times
QualificationsEducation
High school diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred
Equivalent combination of education and significant industry experience considered
10+ years of operations management experience, including forecasting and scheduling
Strong background in steam turbine repair, rotating equipment, heavy machinery, machining, welding, or blading
Experience managing P&L and operational budgets
Knowledge of quality management systems and process implementation
Familiarity with power generation or heavy industrial repair standards
Willingness to travel domestically as required
