Job Description
Ombudsman needed for a local non-profit organization in the downtown area. Responsibilities include providing client services working with residents, staff, individuals, and groups to explore and assist in determining options to help resolve conflicts, problematic issues, or concerns. Scheduled is Monday- Friday, from 8am-5pm. Pay rate is $30.12 hourly.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage, coordinate, and facilitate mediation or dispute resolution techniques at family and elderly and disabled community properties to address resident-to-resident issues.
- Achieve compromise, buy-in, and agreement from all parties and conduct follow-up to ensure the effectiveness of the mediation or conflict resolution process.
- Develops a reporting system to ensure that resolution statuses are well documented and communicated through the appropriate chain of command, consistent with timelines and expectations.
- Confers with disputants to clarify issues, identify underlying concerns and develop an understanding of their respective needs and interests.
- Responds to questions, complaints, and concerns in the workplace in a confidential manner.
- Establishes excellent customer service for internal and external clients at all times.
- Advises on and explains relevant housing operation rules, regulations, and procedures to residents and the general public.
- Facilitates information sharing among various parties involved in a grievance, dispute, or claim.
- Evaluates customer service processes and recommends and implements improvements.
- Provides information and assistance to agency employees or the public; investigates complaints and communicates with various groups on behalf of the individuals with a grievance, dispute, or claim.
- Consults with various groups on issues and procedures concerning conferences, hearings, and other proceedings.
- Addresses complex, sensitive, and high-profile issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Prepares narrative and statistical reports.
- Reviews and organizes supporting documentation to determine whether applicable information has been received.
- Listens and understands issues while remaining neutral with facts; listens to understand the issue from the individual's perspective.
- Records information on contacts and case actions in applicable systems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, communications, or social services. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an additional six (6) years of experience will be required.
- Two (2) years of experience in counseling, mediation, or dispute resolution work.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Completion of a background check, drug screen, education verification.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
