Summary of Responsibilities
Perform set up and operation of manual machinery (lathe and/or mill) in order to prepare metallic and non-metallic parts required in the production of inflatable packers and downhole tools or other products offered to customers and other clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
? Review blueprints, drawings, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of part/product, sequence of operations and/or set up requirements.
? Identify, produce and gauge a variety of straight and taper threads, including Acme and buttress (does not apply to mill positions).
? Measure, mark and otherwise indicate the dimensions and reference points on the part or material to be used as guides for subsequent machining.
? Select, align and secure the holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines to include mills, lathes and grinders.
? Calculate and set controls to regulate various machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut.
? Start and observe machine operation to detect any malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust the machine controls or control media as necessary.
? Verify conformance of finished part to ensure that it meets specifications.
? Confer with production personnel, engineers or others to resolve machining or assembly issues.
? Perform daily maintenance duties and/or notify supervisor of any equipment-related issues that may require attention.
? Maintain clean and orderly work area.
? Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience
Requires one-year certificate from college or technical school or a minimum of five years related experience. Must have API oilfield threading experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write and/or complete routine reports.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as angles, lengths, diameters in decimals and fractions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to work under a minimum of supervision. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings as they pertain to machining of inflatable packers or related downhole tools. Must have own tools adequate to perform job.
