Job Description
CHEMICAL PROCESSOR
Shift: Rotating (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM and 2:00 PM – 12:30 AM)
Assignment Type: Temp-to-Hire
The Chemical Machine Operator will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining chemical processing equipment in a manufacturing environment. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting. The operator will ensure production goals are met while maintaining high-quality standards and compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Operation:
- Set up, operate, and monitor chemical processing machines (mixers, blenders, reactors, extruders, etc.).
- Adjust machine settings and controls to meet production specifications.
- Ensure proper feed of raw materials and additives into machines.
- Batch Processing & Quality Control:
- Measure, weigh, and mix chemicals according to precise formulations.
- Monitor production batches to ensure consistency and quality.
- Take samples for lab analysis and adjust processes based on test results.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all OSHA safety regulations and company safety protocols, including handling hazardous materials properly.
- Wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and participate in safety training.
- Monitor and report any spills, leaks, or abnormal equipment conditions.
- Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of machinery.
- Identify and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and escalate major issues to the maintenance team.
- Warehouse & Material Handling (if applicable):
- Operate a forklift to transport raw materials, finished products, and waste materials.
- Load and unload materials from machines and storage areas safely.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (vocational training a plus).
- Experience: 1+ years as a Machine Operator in a batch, chemical, or manufacturing plant.
- Skills:
- Understanding of chemical mixing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), batch records, and safety guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with hazardous materials.
- Forklift experience is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Work in environments exposed to chemicals, heat, noise, and rotating shifts.
- Comfortable wearing PPE such as gloves, goggles, and respirators.
