Job Description
LK Jordan is searching for a talented, detail-oriented, and organized Legal Assistant for a local law firm. This position will be responsible for assisting the paralegals with a variety of projects, client intake, and various other administrative duties. Schedule is Monday - Friday from 8:30am- 5:30pm and pay starts at $20 an hour. This is a temp to hire position and will go permanent based on performance and attendance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Manage Attorney calendar.
• Monitor deadlines, task assignments, and completion dates.
• Maintain and update documents within document storage software.
• Retrieves information as requested from records, emails, minutes, and other related documents.
• Responds to and resolve administrative inquiries and questions from staff and clients.
• Coordinates and schedules travel, meetings, and appointments for Attorneys or supervisors.
• Prepares agendas and schedules for meetings.
• Work closely with Litigation team members to ensure all deadlines and tasks are completed.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written communication
• Understanding of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation
• Excellent proofreading and editing skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to efficiently and effectively work with a team of four (4) attorneys and three (3) staff members.
• Basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as record keeping and filing.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and manage time-sensitive deadlines
• Mailing labels and mailing packages experience via USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc
• Excellent work ethic and strong teamwork skills
• Must be flexible, organized, able to work under pressure, and meet deadlines with a calm and pleasant demeanor.
• Bilingual preferred.
Education and Experience:
• Minimum of 1 years experience in a legal setting.
• Minimum of high school diploma (or equivalent).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Completion of a background check and a drug screen.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
