L.K. Jordan & Associates is seeking a mechanically inclined Junior Secondary Technician for a manufacturing client. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with manufacturing experience who wants to expand their technical skills and advance into an independent Secondary Technician role.

The Junior Secondary Technician will support equipment setup, tooling preparation, machine operation, quality inspections, and other production activities. The selected candidate will receive structured, hands-on training to develop skills in equipment setup, machine adjustments, tooling, troubleshooting, and secondary manufacturing processes.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist setup technicians with production activities to maximize equipment utilization and minimize setup and changeover time
  • Prepare equipment, tooling, gauges, and materials for scheduled production runs
  • Install and remove tooling within established training and authorization guidelines
  • Clean, handle, and return tooling to its designated storage location
  • Operate assigned secondary manufacturing equipment safely and efficiently
  • Produce parts according to work instructions, drawings, samples, specifications, and production requirements
  • Monitor running machines and complete required production documentation and control charts
  • Perform in-process quality inspections using gauges and other measuring tools
  • Make approved machine adjustments based on training and established procedures
  • Promptly report quality concerns, equipment problems, excessive scrap, tooling issues, or process variations
  • Assist with changeovers, tooling handling, inspections, material movement, and other production-support activities
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly supplied machines and work areas
  • Participate in equipment setup opportunities to progressively develop independent setup skills
  • Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, work instructions, and PPE requirements
  • Participate in ongoing training and accept coaching to advance into increasingly complex operations
Production Processes May Include
  • Compression spring pre-setting
  • Torsion spring bending and trimming
  • Fine-wire cable coiling using speed lathes
  • Extension spring hook forming and trimming
  • Assembly operations
  • Flat-wire and strip trimming
  • Forming and hole punching

Training will be provided based on assigned equipment and production needs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous manufacturing experience required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability and willingness to learn equipment setup, tooling, machine adjustments, and troubleshooting
  • Basic problem-solving abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, drawings, specifications, and inspection procedures
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a production team
  • Forklift certification or the ability to become certified
  • Dependable attendance and a strong commitment to workplace safety
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk frequently throughout the workday
  • Regular use of hands to handle springs, wire forms, tooling, materials, gauges, and finished products
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, kneel, push, pull, and twist
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and material-handling equipment after certification
  • Close vision and the ability to identify product-quality concerns
