IT Systems Specialist
Location: Onsite in Northwest Austin
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
Compensation: $28+ DOE
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled IT Systems and Desktop Support Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive technical support, maintain IT systems, and contribute to enhancing the efficiency and security of our IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Helpdesk Support

Monitor and respond to user tickets in the ticketing system, providing timely assistance until issues are resolved.

Configure and maintain laptops, desktops, and servers using Windows, macOS, or Linux operating systems.

Manage and troubleshoot printer systems and related user issues.

Provision user accounts, phone extensions, and voicemail within the Cisco Phone System.

Deploy and update end-user systems with operating systems and business applications.

Troubleshoot network connectivity, file access, VPN connectivity, and OS patching issues.

Manage inventory of end-user computer accessories and handle replacements.

Address monitoring system alert tickets and escalate issues to senior IT engineers as necessary.
IT and Cloud Systems Management

Develop a comprehensive understanding of current IT systems and services (e.g., Active Directory, network infrastructure, virtualization).

Ensure timely delivery of IT services, achieving high customer satisfaction and low response/resolution times.

Identify and implement opportunities for IT capabilities to support business processes.

Set up and maintain IT systems to ensure availability, security, and functionality.

Document system setups, updates, and uses to share knowledge within the team.

Utilize automated infrastructure provisioning and management tools (e.g., Chef, Salt, Puppet).

Collaborate on new technologies and processes to align IT services with business needs.
Technical Development and Training

Gain expertise in server technology and virtualization (Kubernetes, VMWare, Proxmox).

Understand network technology and security measures (switches, routers, firewalls).

Familiarize yourself with endpoint protection systems (Antivirus, Vulnerability management).

Conduct periodic training sessions on best practices for IT and security systems.
Information Security Awareness

Monitor and maintain vulnerabilities and integrity of IT systems through established policies.

Collaborate with various departments to deliver IT security services and expertise.

Conduct access rights audits and maintain risk registers for IT systems.
Personal and Team Development

Continuously improve knowledge and skills in IT and Information Security.

Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on relevant technologies.

Provide mentorship to junior IT colleagues and facilitate their development.

Stay informed about technological advancements and provide feedback to the team.
Qualifications

Proven experience in IT support, helpdesk, or system administration.

Strong knowledge of Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.

Familiarity with networking concepts, cloud technologies, and security best practices.

Excellent problem-solving skills and customer service orientation.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively.
