Job Description


Production/Development Geologist

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Select optimal drilling locations based on geological data and analysis.

  2. Evaluate formations and logs from drilled wells to ensure quality control.

  3. Summarize logs for targeted and productive sands, providing recommendations for well completions.

  4. Update and maintain maps depicting relevant sand formations.

  5. Manage a database of logs, log summaries, perforations, etc., supporting well completions and recompletions.

  6. Collaborate closely with drilling and workover teams on AFE preparation, location planning, directional drilling plans, and recompletion evaluations.

  7. Monitor and respond to drilling activities in adjacent areas.

  8. Conduct geologic modeling to support reservoir modeling and horizontal drilling initiatives.

Technology Expertise:

  • Utilize 3DPAK/EarthPAK mapping software for mapping and maintenance.

  • Access and leverage S&P Global Upstream Database for TX District 1-4 for logs, wells, production, and land grid information.

  • Maintain IFS Tobin Well Location updates.

Seismic Data Management:

  • Coordinate with geophysicists to plan, acquire, process, and interpret seismic data.

  • Lead efforts in reprocessing and merging seismic volumes over the properties.

  • Re-evaluate geological targets in various locations.

  • Manage seismic data across various Gulf Coast and South Texas Counties.

Exploration Initiatives:

  • Develop prospects using proprietary and non-proprietary seismic data.

  • Identify new Gulf Coast/South Texas prospects, particularly on non-family-owned minerals.

  • Evaluate industry oil and gas prospects for potential investment.

Monthly Reporting:

  • Prepare and deliver monthly presentations on exploration and development drilling projects for company management and ownership.

Must have a college degree in Geology and 10 plus years of experience.

Base salary is $150K plus depending on experience with opportunity for bonuses.
