Design Engineer

Job Summary: The Design Engineer will collaborate closely with the Central Maintenance team to support mechanical and electrical drafting and documentation needs. This role involves creating and modifying drawings, concept designs, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and codes. The ideal candidate will contribute to team projects aimed at achieving divisional goals.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all safety and environmental policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Work collaboratively with engineers in the central maintenance department to fulfill team objectives.

  • Perform drafting and design of mechanical systems, including piping, utilities, structural elements, kinematic systems, adhesives, welding protocols, and more.

  • Research new product ideas and methods to enhance plant systems and equipment, utilizing AutoCAD Mechanical, Inventor Professional, SolidWorks, and FEA tools.

  • Update and improve existing product designs as required.

  • Assist the engineering team in developing detailed schedules and reports for effective project management.

  • Input, export, and analyze information using maintenance tracking systems (e.g., SAP).

  • Ensure compliance with industry safety standards.

  • Propose creative design solutions as part of a continuous improvement initiative across the plant.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • 2-5 years of experience in an industrial environment.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Mechanical, Inventor Professional, and AutoCAD Plant 3D.

  • Familiarity with both Imperial and Metric systems.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and maintain confidentiality.

  • Flexibility to adapt to diverse cultures and work under pressure.

  • Capable of working in varied weather conditions and environments.

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk long distances, stand for extended periods, and work in challenging environmental conditions (e.g., high temperature, humidity, noise, dust).

  • Comfortable working at heights up to 500 feet.

  • Reliable transportation to and from the job site.

  • Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card.

Salary is $110K DOE
