Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
- Timely and proper collection of accounts for maximum recovery and minimum charge-off with all past due loans and negative shares including but not limited to incoming and outgoing calls, correspondence, skip-tracing, and all other loss mitigation efforts.
- Recommends action to be taken based on thorough analysis, i.E. Extension, rewrite, modification or other appropriate workout, repossession, asset liquidation, legal action and/or charge off.
- Performing skip tracing duties, examining delinquent loans and make recommendation for extensions, due date changes, refinancing, loan modification, TDRs, charge-offs, foreclosure, and repossession.
- Assisting members with resolving loan delinquency, CPI insurance matters, and/or other account issues affecting loan payment.
- Processes bankruptcies and judgments, prepares and files proofs of claim, monitors deadlines and represents the Credit Union in court, when necessary.
- Complies with Federal and State laws and follows collection policies, procedures, and practices.
- Recommends and/or assigns disposal of repossession, as needed.
- Proper documentation for each account worked.
- Serves as back-up for peer roles and specialized duties, as needed.
- Provide support to the Director of Credit Solutions & Recovery Strategies (DCRS), Sr. CSA and Asset Disposal Coordinator by giving needed context on accounts to avoid loan losses and reduce financial risk to both the Credit Union and the member.
- Recommend and/or process loan modifications, loan extensions, due date changes, TDRs, and legal files within established guidelines.
- Responsible for maintaining working knowledge of the core objectives of the Credit Solutions Department by understanding each of the job functions within his/her own area of accountability and their purpose and impact on the department, members, and the Credit Union.
- Keep DCRS aware of any member dissatisfaction and system deficiencies.
- Provide superior service to all internal and external stakeholders.
- Timely and effective contact and resolution of all past due loan and negative share accounts.
- Proper documentation and consistent use of all collection activities and resources.
- Resolve outstanding insurance coverage issues on loans where Collateral Protection Insurance premiums have been added or no insurance verification has been received.
- Refer members to Consumer Counseling Programs.
- Add new skills and capabilities relevant to his/her personal growth and the organization s future capabilities.
- Ensure a positive image with internal and external stakeholders (members, co-workers, peers) .
- Strong commitment to the quality of service provided.
- Other duties, special projects, or tasks as assigned by the DCRS.
Requirement:
- High school education or GED.
- 1-3 years of similar or related experience.
- Must possess working PC knowledge including word processing, spreadsheet skills and Internet/Intranet.
- Must be able to ensure all collection activity is legal and follows established practices, keeping management informed of operational issues affecting collection activities.
