Job Description
Overnight Caregiver (In-Home Care) – Katy, TX
Schedule:
- Tuesdays 4:00 PM – Wednesdays 8:00 AM (16 hours)
- Thursdays 4:00 PM – Fridays 8:00 AM (16 hours)
Total: 32 hours per week
Pay: $18–$21 per hour
Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and safety-focused Overnight Caregiver to provide in-home care for an adult client with special needs. This position requires an attentive professional who will remain awake throughout the overnight shift to ensure the client’s safety at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Evening Duties (4:00 PM – 8:00 PM):
- Administer prescribed medication as directed
- Oversee and assist with showering and personal hygiene
- Engage the client in pre-bed activities in the activity room (books, records, games, etc.)
- Provide companionship and meaningful interaction until bedtime (8:00 PM)
Overnight Responsibilities (8:00 PM – 8:00 AM):
- Ensure the client is safely settled into bed
- Remain awake and alert for the entire overnight shift
- Monitor for any attempts to get out of bed or wander
- Redirect the client calmly and safely back to bed if needed
- Maintain a secure and safe environment at all times
Qualifications
- CPR certification (required)
- First Aid certification (required)
- Knowledge of the Heimlich maneuver (required or would provide training)
- Valid driver’s license (required, for emergency situations)
- Ability to pass a background check and a drug screen
- Experience working with individuals with special needs preferred (but not required for the right candidate)
- Ability to stay awake and alert during overnight hours
- Calm, patient, and steady demeanor under pressure
