Job Description


Job Overview: The Accounting Coordinator assists in preparing, recording, and administering Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Benefits, General Ledger and assisting with other financial reporting processes.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Review all invoices for correct verification, coding, approvals and overall accuracy and whether budget exists for the expenditures

  • Process, enter and post accounts payable for weekly check runs

  • Serve as the coordinator for the overall purchasing process system

  • Verify and prepare payment for approved expense reports

  • Assist in preparing checks for signature and mailing

  • Review “requests for payment” for all payments made to subcontractors to determine if amounts to be paid comply with contractual agreements

  • Prepare, file and distributes year-end 1099 reports in a timely fashion

  • Prepare reports and recommendations where necessary

  • Assist in preparing and reconciling general ledger accounts

  • Participate in the development and implementation of new or revised accounting programs, systems, procedures, and methods of operation

  • Serve as main contact for payroll-related assistance and information to staff

  • Process and track payroll, time sheets, hours worked, taxes, benefits, etc. to calculate payroll

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Competencies / Work Style:

  • Knowledge of Accounting Policies, Payroll Benefits, Worker’s Compensation, Payroll Processing, etc.

  • Must be able to work on sensitive and confidential material and have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding pay, benefits, and employee issues.

  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills: accuracy is essential. Strong follow through.

  • Ability to work well under pressure in deadline-driven environment

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills. Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines, and be able to simultaneously manage several objectives, reassign priorities and use solid business judgment to solve problems.

  • Must be able to work independently and show initiative and have good organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to rapidly learn detailed business processes, practices, and procedures

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to interact with different types of personalities at all levels.

  • Must be able to work as a strong team player and assist other Administrative Staff.

 

Requirements:

  • High School/GED or equivalent (Required)

  • Associates Degree or Technical Certifications with major course work in accounting or a related field

  • 2+ years accounting experience including payroll and accounts payable

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.

 

Pay is $20/hr - $25/hr DOE

 

Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
