Manual Machinist
Location: Houston, TX, United States (On-site)
Position Overview
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Manual Machinist based in Houston, TX. The machinist will be responsible for machining components according to prints and specifications using manual equipment and assisting with assembling projects upon completion. The role requires operating and maintaining manual machines, ensuring quality standards, and collaborating closely with the production team.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual lathes; perform threading, facing, turning, and boring while maintaining tolerances and keeping faces parallel.
- Set up and operate horizontal boring mills and conversational Bridgeport-style mills.
- Work with and operate horizontal lathes, horizontal mills, Bridgeport mills, and King VTL machines.
- Review drawings, sketches, or sample parts with the Supervisor to determine dimensions and tolerances.
- Verify finished workpiece dimensions to ensure conformance to specifications and document findings on dimensional reports as required.
- Maintain material traceability to shop work orders and accurate documentation, including job travelers, dimensional data sheets, and time logs.
- Follow safety and security procedures, promptly reporting any unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
- Keep work areas clean and organized during normal hours of operation.
Qualifications
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Minimum 7 years of experience as a manual machinist
- Must have hands-on experience operating:
- Bridgeport Mills
- Horizontal Lathes
- Horizontal Mills
- King VTL Machines
- Reliable transportation required
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical
Schedule
- Job Type: Full-time
- Hours: 40–45 hours per week
- Shift: 8–10 hours per day, Monday through Friday
- Company Hours:
- Monday – Thursday: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Friday: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM
